I guess one way to gauge the adoption and interest of the Transmedia approach to storytelling is to see if anyone is actually getting paid. Oh! Look!
The Narrative Design team at Microsoft Studios is looking for an experienced narrative designer with exceptional creative and collaborative skills to join us in defining and developing new long-term transmedia IPs for the entire Microsoft Studios portfolio.
“Frank Rose’s book The Art of Immersion is ostensibly a field guide to new storytelling across the web, film and TV. Featuring explorations of landmarks from Grand Theft Auto’s Liberty City to Mulholland Drive’s ink black asphalt, it’s an attempt to work out where we are and where we might go as storytellers and audiences alike.”
The seminal new wave/electronica trailblazer Thomas Dolby has officially launched “The Floating City” as of 1pm (Eastern US time) yesterday, and it is quite the promotional interactive multimedia accomplishment. The “transmedia” project is primarily an online game, free to the public and requiring no software download, which will also serve as a delivery system for his latest musical projects.

With the next release of Conducttr, authors will be able to create pervasive open world stories. By this I mean that a regular linear story can now be re-told interactively by questioning and examining characters, places and events such that the reader/player uncovers story pieces using their own reasoning and interest to explore aspects that interest them most.
